35mm, 7omm, optical

In a digital world we remain specialists in conventional film and optical sound formats. The application of these technologies is now primarily within post production facilities, laboratories and specialist cinemas.
Other Services:

35MM

35mm was adopted as the international film gauge in 1909. For nearly 100 years it was the dominant projection format in cinemas worldwide. We can supply 35mm projectors for sale and rental. Our experienced engineers can service your projectors and advise on lamps and lenses.

7OMM

70mm is a specialist high resolution film gauge. The higher cost of stock, cameras and projection systems prevented the formats widespread adoption. We can supply 70mm projectors for sale and rental. Our experienced engineers can service your projectors and advise on lamps and lenses.

OPTICAL SOUND RECORDING

An integral part of the traditional film making process is the creation of the optical sound negative. Mastered sound from a Dolby Certified sound mixing stage is printed onto film stock using a stereo optical recording camera. The sound negative is then combined with the picture negative to create a positive film print. Bell Theatre Services can supply or modify existing mono sound cameras for Stereo Variable Area (S.V.A.) recording. Attachments for Dolby Digital and DTS are also available.
We have supplied and installed over twenty-five 35mm stereo optical recording cameras throughout the world. Bell Theatre Services can also supply 2000ft Camera Film Magazines, Cross Modulation Analysers and Toolmakers Microscopes.
